On January 9, youth workers, educators, and representatives of local organizations gathered in Istanbul Kadıköy for a dynamic networking event under the “Stronger Together: Strengthening Youth Workers and Organisations for Displaced Youth Integration and Resilience (SYWOR)” project. The event served as a platform for connecting professionals, sharing knowledge, and exploring innovative approaches to supporting displaced youth.
Building Connections and Exploring Opportunities
The event kicked off at 18:30 with welcome remarks and introductions, allowing participants to connect, introduce themselves, and engage in an interactive networking activity. This session provided an opportunity for youth workers from different backgrounds to establish new partnerships and collaborations, setting the stage for meaningful discussions.
Presentation of the SYWOR Project
Following the introductions, a presentation on the SYWOR project outlined its objectives, purpose, and upcoming activities. Participants gained insight into how this 36-month Erasmus+ initiative, involving five partner countries (Ukraine, Turkey, Poland, Moldova, and Georgia), is designed to enhance the capacity of youth workers and organizations in supporting displaced youth. Key goals of the project include:
✔ Training 100 youth workers to improve their skills in working with displaced youth.
✔ Implementing diversity and inclusion policies in five organizations.
✔ Increasing displaced youth participation in decision-making by 30%.
✔ Establishing sustainable support systems to promote long-term integration and resilience.
Engaging Discussions and Future Collaboration
The event concluded with a Q&A and interactive discussion, where participants had the opportunity to share their insights, ask questions, and discuss future opportunities within the SYWOR project. The conversation highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration, innovative problem-solving, and community-driven approaches to empowering displaced youth.
By the end of the session, attendees left with valuable connections, new perspectives, and a stronger commitment to making a meaningful impact in their communities.
